Company analysis what is it good for?

Do really analysts dig deeper on financial statements to perform an analysis about a company to make a buy, hold or sell recommendation? But why bother if financial statements are black boxes cooked by the management for the benefit of the management, and do not provide much relevant data about the company both on substance or detail, although analysts do have more access to information about the company they are covering, but then what? Most of them consider most stocks as a buy, and the honest among them would write reports with ambiguous wording for fear of reprisals by the corporation they are covering. Moreover, stock prices would incorporate those analyses if EMH holds in such cases.
So why not skipping the company analysis in the top down approach? Knowing that portfolio should be diversified and companies of the same industry are highly positively correlated.
Waiting for your insight on the matter folks, thanks in advance

What was the point of this post exactly? Financial statements absolutely give you insight into the viability of a company... have fun faking cash flow... Also, these analysts attend numerous conferences and interview management teams in person to gain a better understanding of their business plan/management direction. FYI, it's because of positions like equity research that markets are efficient. Do you really think that places like bloomberg, cap iq, and factset would have started if we didn't have equity research first? Stop regurgitating everything your b school professors are shoving down your throat and read about how the real world operates. I'm tired of kids who don't work in the real world toting efficient market hypothesis as if it is a silver bullet that has enlightened them to the futility of our industry.

I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

I guess that you are a sell side analyst gstackle32, sorry if I hurt you pride... rufiolove what do you think about technical analysis? Some many books are sold it's a quite good business, why would these guys sell shovels instead of digging for gold if there is gold out there, same being said about analysts, in their attempts to make market efficient they may have made overefficient, and hence inefficient...

Well gstackle32, this forum is not the right place to adress the problem of the lack of your self-esteem, I'd reccomend self help instead, I am tired of the bafoons of the chat rooms, I tought that I can only find intelligent debate... Don't be shameless man!
