Help with tough pick

Long story short, I got an offer for an internship position in a BB AM firm which I’m pretty happy about given that I have zero experience and I’m looking forward to landing an IB job one day (M&A or PE) though it’s probably not going to be with these guys because they said that they don’t usually hire off-cycle and new slots are unlikely to happen. In the future, will it be more beneficial if I go (sic!) with my first choice which a less well-known audit firm where I have a chance of being promoted FT?

My personal bias, given where I think we are headed in the next 12 months, is to pick the option that gets you the best chance at FT employment - I'm not exactly bullish, in the immediate term, in banks/financial firms being robust hiring centers in the next year.

It sounds like either way you don't have a direct option to IB - the AM role at a bank at least gets that name on your resume, you can network with others, and will get some financial experience depending on what the AM internship actually is. Maybe you'll end up liking AM or finding an opportunity there.
