Is it worth applying for the BlackRock Portfolio Management summer internship if I want to go into value investing?
I'm an undergrad looking to applying for equity research internships on both the buy and sell side with the intention of going into a value oriented asset manager or hedge fund. Is it worth applying for the BlackRock Portfolio Management internship? Although Blackrock has an equities research team, I've heard that Blackrock is a bad place to start a career off as an analyst since it's mostly a passive shop. Should I focus my time on preparing for my interviews with other AM shops instead of applying for Blackrock?
Looks like equities is one of the subgroups within Portfolio Management. Looks like BLK has some active value equity strategies, dunno if they are hiring.
Depends on the firm, you get hired into a specific strategy / portfolio or the firm (centralized research like what Neuberger and Clearbridge have)
According to the internship website, PMG interns get rotated on the equities research team, along with the fixed income and one other team.
