JPM private banking full time analyst in person super day

So I had a virtual super day for an analyst position within JPM's private bank on December 5th. It went well and they called me two weeks later telling me that they would love to fly me out on Jan 5th to do an in person interview. They flew me to NYC put me in a hotel and I did my in person interview. I noticed two other candidates were also flown out and interviewing for the team. During my last interview I was talking to a MD who told me the team has 3 open positions within the team. I immediately thought that they flew out 3 people for 3 position and it was more of a formality and they want to see who will be on what team even though the MD said you won't know what team your on until you start full time. The other two candidates and I made a GC because we all got along and talked to each other in the lobby before the interviews. One of them got a call two days later saying that they had gotten an offer. The other candidate and I haven't received any word and it has been 6 days. Am I cooked? When do you think I'd hear back?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  1. Timing of Offers: It's not uncommon for firms like JPM to stagger their offer calls, especially if they are finalizing details or waiting for feedback from all interviewers. While one candidate has already received an offer, it doesn't necessarily mean you're out of the running. Six days is still within a reasonable timeframe, especially considering weekends or internal decision-making processes.

  2. Follow-Up Etiquette: If you haven't heard back after a week (7 business days), it's perfectly acceptable to send a polite follow-up email to the recruiter or HR contact. Express your continued interest in the role and inquire about the status of your application.

  3. Multiple Openings: Since the MD mentioned there are three open positions, and only one candidate has received an offer so far, there’s still a strong chance you’re being considered. The delay could be due to internal discussions about team placements or other logistical factors.

  4. Stay Positive: The fact that you were flown out and had an in-person interview is a strong indicator of their interest in you. Keep in mind that hiring processes can vary, and patience is key.

  5. Next Steps: If you don’t hear back within the next few days, send that follow-up email. In the meantime, continue exploring other opportunities to keep your options open.

Good luck, and remember, even if this doesn’t work out, you’ve gained valuable experience that will help you in future interviews!
