Leaving after 7 months?

Considering leaving job after 7 months, first year analyst in WM at a BB. Would it be bad to start applying and looking elsewhere? I’m not trying to do IB or anything crazy, just looking for a different path/position. I’ve learned a good bit but it has gotten quite monotonous and tedious and realize I will be doing the same thing for quite awhile. Honestly, absolutely hate the job. Don’t really have an interest in going into private wealth or being an FA either. Anyways, would it be bad to start applying and potentially leave after 7 months?

Do you think it’s necessary to stay for a full year? Obviously wouldn’t accept another position unless I saw myself being there at least 2-3 years. Didn’t see myself doing that with this job, but needed one and this was only current offer.

Figure out what you see yourself doing. You're at the point where if you wanted to get into FP&A you could make the move pretty easily even today if you wanted to. I don't think anyone really cares about timing once you're 7-8 months into a job. You've already ramped and understand the scope of the work (especially in PB/PWM), so it's easy to tell if it's the right career for you or not. Reach out to recruiters, the name of your bank will already be of help.

Start looking now! Ideal scenario is you will have stayed in your current role for one year when you leave. At one point, I asked my new employer to delay my start date so that I would have stayed in my current role for exactly one year. They happily agreed. Note: this is a good gesture and reflect nicely on you even from the new employer's perspective.
