Local European AM -> London

Hi all,

Looking for some advice from others who have been in my shoes/know someone who has been.

I currently work at a local boutique LO in mainland Europe (just completed my first year), with a pan-European small/midcap focus. I’d love to move to London at a point in the (near) future, and would like to hear from those who made the move what their experience has been.

For extra background info. My fund has a couple hundred million in AUM, and runs a concentrated, low turnover portfolio (15 names). My job is fully focused on (independently) generating new ideas. So far completed 6 extensive investment cases across sectors and countries, and continue to actively cover 4 of those, so I’m getting some solid experience. I’ll gradually grow my coverage as I work out more investment cases, and will gain responsibility over those that are eventually added to the portfolio.

(As for myself, got a master’s degree and I’m hearing in a couple weeks’ time whether I’ve passed CFA L3).

Mostly looking for some thoughts on how to approach the recruiting process, and how tough it would be to find a spot at a large AM coming from abroad.

Anything you would be willing to share would be much appreciated.
