'Business School' vs Professional resume questions since I'm applying to some off the beaten path relationship-centered roles in IM
Obviously in b-school resumes you focus on leadership/team items a bit more than you normally do in professional resumes but do you think that for relationship focused roles in investment management its better to highlight these leadership/community roles rather than leave them out (for roles in private banking, investment management etc)? Or do you think no one really cares about these things on the professional side so much?
I've definitely had some strong leadership roles in starting/launching some mentoring programs and since I am aiming for relationship-focused roles vs quanty analyst roles I'm thinking they might hold greater value to show more people-based/initiative/social entrepreneurial type ventures..HOWEVER.. the issue of space comes in then.. and worrying about cramming
Do I keep the senior/junior year internships(including the financial advisory internship from 8 years ago) to show I have some client advisory experience on the wealth management side
Do I axe GPAs and GMATs given a- gmat doesnt matter to most non-MBA pipeline roles (although it is 700+ with a higher quant)and b- GPA from college is far enough out (although NYU post bacc is only a couple years removed and is a 3.76 -- will it look odd if I left the NYU but removed undergrad gpa as if im hiding something?)
OR -- do I just slightly decrease the font and try to cram everything on there? :D One person said it might fail the '30 second rule' of trying to look and see everything while retaining a good amount of space on the resume..
Thoughts/feelings/suggestions?
