Typical associate salary & bonus?

I'm looking at a few opportunities to move into an associate level research role in a mutual fund at a bulge bracket firm. Can anyone tell me what the typical salary & bonus would be for this type of position?

Thanks.

$8.57/hr, it's better than Starbucks

Just playing. I know analyst at BBs is 70+10 sign, with around 20-30 bonus. I'm guessing associate salary is probably similar to IBD, too, maybe ~$100k salary, 20-40 sign-on, 20-40 bonus

That is, however, a complete guess.

Chris_MarlinSalaries in AM don't have an automatic 10k annual increase like in banking.. so an associate could make anywhere from 80-100k salary wise depending on the firm. most of the time, laterals don't get a signing bonus. can't really speak of the year end.

actually we kind of do. Maybe BBs do it differently but it's certainly the case at my firm, at least for people under the actual investment front office

When I say associate, I mean post MBA level (i.e. analyst, associate, vice president, etc), although I don't have an MBA.

The group is an actual mutual fund (picking individual stocks) and not fund of fund. I would be going into a research role within the group.

So it sounds like 80-100k salary and another 60-80k in bonus? Is this any different for an associate level without an MBA?

^your bonus seems a bit high but I'm not at a huge firm so I could be wrong.

Chris_MarlinMBA doesnt really mean much in asset management..

Sorry to contradict with you again but most of the good houses do the bulk of their newcomers recruiting for the investment front office through MBA recruiting, and typically from the M7 programs... Fido,Pimco, Wellington, T Rowe all recruit more MBAs than undergrads for investment roles.

If I complete my MBA in July 2011 and start work then, how much can I expect to receive come bonus time in Jan 2012? Can I just pro-rate the figures that you guys are throwing out there or are there adjustments I should make?
