Just talked to a friend at Bain who works for a medium-sized office and helps with recruiting. She said that her office is having to reevaluate hiring numbers for the September 15th deadline given that it isn't a mega office so they can't just go crazy on ACs, there are concerns of slowing work due to impending recession, and, as you mentioned, they almost filled a normal class already in the prior two rounds. This info is definitely office specific, and I'm pretty sure other offices will still be hiring quite a bit, but this is just one data point. If I took anything away from my convo it's that mega offices are maybe the safest bet as smaller offices may have already filled their classes (I'm extrapolating here though). Happy to hear other thoughts.

I'm applying to a mega office (ny /sf) and the consultant said they're planning on hiring ~15% more than last year, so this info is certainly office specific.

Wouldn’t they stop or not send out interview invites if this was the case for the September 15th deadline?

Hate to break it to you, but if you're not ab-so-lute-ly extraordinary in every way, then you missed the boat. Round 1 they filled up some 80 of the class, round 2 was the other 99, and this round is for diversity candidates that learned about consulting recently, but have internships at google, Goldman Sachs, a 36 ACT, 4.0 ACT from Princeton, started a successful non-profit, were on shark tank, and are incredibly gregarious.

I know this because that's what my Bainie buddy told me as I was catching up with him a couple weeks ago--words from him, not me.

Godspeed of course, but don't hold your breath.

Remember, always be kind-hearted.

What office was your friend talking about? A Megaoffice or regional?

They should be sent. Maybe you're waitlisted or your office is just slower atm. I didn't get anything when most of my friends got their R1 invites/rejections, then got an email that I was still being considered weeks later.
