Best internship for MBB, SpaceX or Amazon?

Choosing between a supply chain internship with SpaceX and a business analyst internship with Amazon. Ultimate goal is to move into consulting full time with an MBB firm, though I’m also interested in which internship would set me up for the best opportunities even if I can’t land an MBB offer.

My initial thoughts are that a business analyst role may be more relevant to consulting but that SpaceX may stand out more on a resume. Let me know your thoughts, any insights would be appreciated!

imho SpaceX does sound cooler. Consulting firms are not necessairily looking for someone with experience in consulting when they hire. They want people with cool backgrounds that can think like consultants. I feel like there are a lot of people that work at Amazon and it's not that impressive anymore so I'd go with SpaceX.

OP here. Thank you for the responses! It sounds like SpaceX has an edge over Amazon, but would you say it's worth substantially lower pay and having to relocate? (Amazon has gone virtual for the summer). Thanks!

Do you think that you will enjoy your role more at SpaceX or Amazon? In which role do you think you will have the most impact?

From the perspective of getting interviews, both positions will be about the same. From the perspective of telling your story during interviews, the differentiating factor will be which role allowed you to have more impact. IMO SpaceX, as the smaller organization, will allow you to have more responsibilities and be more entrepreneurial in your role.

As for money, that's going to depend on your personal interests and financial situation. I would have personally chosen SpaceX purely out of interest.

I don't think an in-person internship is feasible this summer, so SpaceX having you relocate seems odd. I would personally consider Amazon; to me, the safe bet right now to do a remote internship at the strong global brand (and one that is thriving under the current conditions), rather than the riskier option at a start-up whose growth outlook is much more long-term
