Rates Vol TA -> FO Macro Sales?
Hi,
I am currently an AN2 working with a Rates Derivs Trading desk as a TA (involved in booking, pricing, scenario analysis, book ops, trade idea pitches, etc). I am based out of a remote office in Asia while the desk is based in London. It is a very lean desk(1 MD + 1 VP + 1 AS) so a move to LDN seems difficult unless someone leaves. AS1 doesn't have a book yet as seniors stress that vol is a complex product to trade and hence, no market making books are given before VP level.
I recently was offered the chance to join the same bank's Macro Sales desk in my home country. This would be a FO client facing role wherein I'll be exposed to both rates derivs/fx/structured solutions.
Given that I want to become a Macro PM in the long run as I really enjoy markets and macro (have an Econ + Math background), should I leave the TA role to move to Sales?
