Too old to get into finance?

35 year old Asian here. 12 years of work ex in the revenue service of this country. Educational experience in tech and data analytics. Presently working as a mid level bureaucrat managing pan-country implementation of tax policy. Like most bureaucracies, pay isn't something to write home about.

Tax has been the fulcrum of all my work experience. Most bureaucrats in this country opt for govt-funded Master's courses in Public Administration and Public Health in Ivy League universities. Once done, the bureaucrats get back to their jobs. These degrees are mostly seen as capacity building rather than career defining.

However, expanding into Finance has always been my interest. Money has been undeniably the number one reason for that. I've considered giving the GMAT but have not been able to decide on account of the age factor. I'm reasonably good at Quant, Data and Language skills. I will be taking out a loan to fund my education, if and when I really choose to.

Looking for inputs on whether HYPS/Ivy League universities accept 35/36 year old applicants into Finance. And if admitted, do they get job offers that justify the huge study loans that one would need to raise? (Flagging the post under CF for lack of a better option)
