From Top LevFin to RX?

Just trying to get some thoughts on if its worth to go from a good LevFin team (think constant deal flow, lead left experience, constantly Top 5 in the LT) into RX

Probably a good learning experience and great for your profile overall if you want to go to a good credit fund. Just curious to hear from some who have done the switch how your lifestyle changed, team atmosphere and if there was anything surprising which you did not expect?

Talking about Senior Analyst or Junior Associate level.

  1. Imo senior associates in RX can actually exit (because RX experience is highly valued and talent pool is limited). It is not the same as LevFin. So going to RX can buy you more time and also get you better exits if that’s what you want

  2. It’s a common path. I’ve seen people go from LevFin to top RX every year. They have to pick up the process components of it but it’s a well established path and people will know what they’re getting from you.

  3. It’s a lot more work, it’s not vanilla credit. You’ll be in a boutique where juniors at your level get a lot more responsibility. But you’ll also be in a different job with higher expectations. So be ready for the jump.

I’d say if you want to coast in banking, stay in LevFin. Almost the same money, way less work, you can actually build a life outside of work. If you’re looking for another challenge or want to exit and want to buy yourself more time, do RX
