JPm Corp banking works analysts basically IB hours 8:30-12am Monday - Thursday are the norm

Most Helpful

Specific to JPM corp banking. At the analyst level, you do the b*tch work of LevFin, DCM, and IB Cov while also doing all the work of a pure corp banking analyst. Lean teams, no MBA associates, stricter face time culture, and often very cliquey / high school-esque bullpens. While you work as hard, if not harder, as the other analysts on transactions, your bonus, recognition, and exits are comparatively sh*t. Experience however is great as you regularly win mandates on big transactions. Once you get to associate, life is chill and you offload most of your work to analysts. Good opportunity if you want to stay long-term in CB at JPM (path to VP very viable regardless of performance quality) or if you have no banking experience. But the compounded misery you face as an analyst (2.5 to 3 yrs) may not be worth it to some, especially if you have no intentions to A2A or plan to jump ship. Much better off taking a corp banking analyst role at any other BB or MM, where you will make more and can also pursue trad corp banking exits.
