Fidelity Equity Research -> Hedge Funds
How well does Fidelity Equity Research place into med/large hedge funds (500M-5B)? Is 2 year Fidelity -> H/W/S/M B school -> Hedge Fund typical?

Career Resources
It's not atypical. Fidelity is a great shop with a strong reputation. If you do your analyst stint there, make some good connections, and get some strong recommendations, you can go to H/W/S for b-school (providing you have a good undergraduate degree, 700+ on the GMAT, and some interests outside of work). And equity research is the ideal background for moving to a fundamental equity long-short fund, so your career plan is plausible.
Thanks for the response. Do other ER shops (GS/MS ect) place similarly? Also, what would the backup option be - returning to the equity research shop?
fidelity has a great program at undergrad level. if you like boston and fundamental research, def take it. u got to cover small-cap stocks right after college, it is significant responsibility. in sell-side, u only got to work with research analyst, not PMs.
Is it possible that some people work 3,4 yrs in ER at a reputable buyside shop and transit straight to a hedge fund, WITHOUT bis school?
I really really don't want to go back to school. I'd rather study for CFA and stuff...
Please let me know what you guys think !
Many of these firms (like Fidelity), pay for your CFA and hold weekly classes to help you prepare.
