MS ER interview

Hi, I received an email from MS inviting me to a first round interview for an ER summer role but the interview time slot is a bit weird considering that the earliest one available to book Is in early Nov. Is this normal and should I follow up with an email to MS HR asking if they have an earlier slots?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for interview slots to be scheduled weeks or even months in advance, especially for competitive roles like Equity Research (ER) at a major firm like Morgan Stanley (MS). However, if the timing is inconvenient or you have concerns, it's perfectly acceptable to follow up with HR to inquire about the possibility of an earlier slot. Here’s a suggested approach:

  1. Polite Inquiry: Send a polite and concise email to the HR contact who sent you the interview invitation.
  2. Express Enthusiasm: Reiterate your enthusiasm for the role and appreciation for the opportunity.
  3. Request Flexibility: Politely ask if there are any earlier slots available due to your eagerness to proceed with the interview process.

Subject: Inquiry Regarding Interview Scheduling for ER Summer Role

Dear [HR Contact's Name],

I hope this message finds you well. I recently received an invitation to schedule a first-round interview for the Equity Research summer role at Morgan Stanley. I am very excited about this opportunity and eager to proceed with the interview process.

I noticed that the earliest available time slot is in early November. If possible, I would like to inquire if there are any earlier slots available. I am flexible and willing to accommodate any available times that might work better for the interview schedule.

Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your response and the opportunity to discuss my application further.

Best regards,
