Video interview upcoming

Greetings fellow monkeys,

I have an upcoming video interview that needs to be done in five days for an equity research internship. How can I prepare myself in the best possible way and do you guys have any relevant tips for me? It is for bank of america and I would really like to work there but I'm not sure what is good to mention or not.

Best regards
Gneger

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some detailed tips to prepare for your upcoming video interview with Bank of America for an equity research internship:

Preparation Tips:

  1. Practice Behavioral Questions:

    • Why BofA?
    • Why equity research?
    • Why finance?
    • Tell me about a time you worked in a team.
    • Tell me about a time you had to juggle multiple priorities.
  2. Technical Setup:

    • Ensure your webcam and microphone are working properly.
    • Record your interview on a computer, not a phone.
    • Conduct the interview in a quiet, well-lit room with minimal background distractions.
  3. Presentation:

    • Dress in business professional attire, regardless of what the invitation says.
    • Sit with good posture and practice smiling.
    • Stare at the camera, not the screen, to maintain eye contact.
  4. Practice:

    • Practice videotaping yourself talking to the camera to get comfortable.
    • Review your resume for experiences and skills you want to highlight.
    • Prepare concise answers to general behavioral questions in front of a webcam.
  5. Additional Resources:

    • Check out uncommon tips for nailing digital interviews.
    • Review guides to the J.P. Morgan, Barclays, and BlackRock video interviews for additional insights.

Key Points to Mention:

  • Your Interest in BofA:

    • Highlight specific reasons why you want to work at Bank of America.
    • Mention any unique aspects of BofA that appeal to you.
  • Your Fit for Equity Research:

    • Discuss your passion for equity research and any relevant experiences.
    • Explain why you are interested in this division and how your skills align with the role.
  • Teamwork and Multitasking:

    • Provide examples of times you successfully worked in a team or managed multiple priorities.

Additional Advice:

  • Stay Updated:

    • Keep abreast of the latest market trends and news, as this can be relevant for equity research roles.
  • Be Yourself:

    • Authenticity is key. Be genuine in your responses and let your enthusiasm for the role and the company shine through.

Your question alludes to you being generally unknowledgeable about the industry because it’s so vague it cannot be answered well. Be more thoughtful about how you ask questions and how you approach acquiring knowledge.

Thoughtfully.

What specifically are you worried about, curious about, excited for? Your post gives nothing for anyone to engage with.

And can it ever be?

ok, my tip is that you should think about what specifically you are worried about, curious about, and excited for, and then ask people on WSO questions about those things so that they can answer them. your post has none of that, just "halp WSO please give me the magic codes to pass any interview regardless of context"

Are you worried about technicals, star questions, failing the airport test, not sure you actually want the job, not sure what you want to do next after ER? If you were in a room with a 5 year veteran of the job you want, what 1-2 questions would you ask them in the section of the interview where you get to control the flow of the conversation? Do you want to do the job for money, prestige, a stepping stone to a better job, or because you're curious and want a job where you can learn every day and the job constantly changes? Have you even thought about any of these questions?

And can it ever be?

Alright, I see your point from your perspective. It was just to start off a discussion.

I have some technical knowledge gaps I think since I haven't worked with it before and only been a student studying the concepts and the only working experience I have is a 6month IB internship. So regarding the technical part I would be grateful to have some input of what I can review. Also currently doing the CFA at the same time I'm doing my finance master so I'm working on my skills just to mention my current level.

I think STAR frightens me as well because I haven't done an interview in five years so I guess that is a concept also I have to bear in mind to get a better understanding of. Haven't heard about the airport test before so thanks for that.

I would maybe ask what their opinion is about AI right now and if they have started to use it. Another question would be if VBA is required to learn or any coding skills. I want the job because I feel the work interests me and there are alot of exciting things going on constantly when you work with covering stocks.
