list of trading prop shops / quant/macro/etc HFs

trying to find HFs and prop shops that focus on quant, as well as derivatives trading, etc etc; some examples would be:

drw jane street capital de shaw citadel

just trying to add to this, preferrably with some smaller players? really want to get in touch w/as many firms as possible, but just dont know whats out there

It's almost embarrassing to include DRW and Jane Street Capital in the same sentence with DE Shaw and Citadel. The latter two are exclusive high-performing hedge funds while the first two are prop shops for amateurs. DRW is really big in treasury and eurodollar options, and I think jane street does a lot of derivatives in general. But the type of work they do is nowhere as interesting and sophisticated as DE Shaw and Citadel.

it's almost embarrassing to call places like Jane Street 'amateur'. the level of sophistication there is as high as it gets.

Um. What. Jane, a prop shop for amateurs? They pretty much pick from the same pool as DE Shaw...

for what purpose?

rentech, deshaw....

every hedge fund is a prop trading shop though. refine and clarify your question.

two things that are being lost in this.

1) clarify the extent of your math background 2) the reason going to a 'target' is important is mostly b/c of the recruiting that comes to those schools. once you've been working in the biz for a few years where you want to school doesn't matter a whole lot.

dude, its really not that hard. in fact I am not going to post my list of firms because you probably went to a better school than i do, and they only have thirty minutes to interview..... so i don't want you hurting my chances. haha. if you can't come up with a hundred firms in 1 hr. you are not a self started, and this is not really your calling. imagine how easy we have it, think of what guys used to have to do before the internet. i would only know of the ML PWM office in my hometown. i would have no idea how to find contact info. the difference between certain people, is that i believe i would have still figured it out back then, even if i had to go down to the merc and beg people to let me be a runner all day. how serious are you?

so mean to me; i'm just a poor girl trying to make it :( so many ppl put up so many other lists, why does no one want to help me out. if anyone can, please

i already outlined instructions on how to get some names. follow it.

and if you went to a target school you shouldn't be having very much trouble at all, certainly not as far as getting contacts is concerned. use your alumni network, and use your on campus recruiting tools

why does everyone do it for everyone else; i can list hundreds of threads with all kinds of lists that people ask for, regarding top banks, etc etc

in those threads, we're either copy/pasting directly from another website or we're describing our own experiences. it's enjoyable. what your asking is bitch work, and no one gets pleasure from that.

you must be at least little attractive and used to having people cater to you.... classic move "hey help me", "no i have my own stuff do do", pouty face: "but i just need a little help, im just a poor helpless girl...."

seriously. i thought i had helped her plenty by giving her suggestions on what to do first, but i guess nothing is enough outside of direct posting names, addresses, e-mails, and phone numbers.

can you guys list out all the quant questions you have received in interviews? specifically, more mathematical/less finance-y questions? thanks.

yes...this is a MUCH WORSE question (which for god's sake I hope nobody answers)...for the reasons I listed in your other post...

They are a more quantitative, model-driven subsidiary of transmarket that mainly trades futures. It's a new group that has only been around for a few years. They have 20-30 guys, entrepreneurial atmosphere, etc. Four rounds of interviews: first two are technical/brain teasers, third is a personality test, fourth is with the head trader at their office.
