MIS a good major for jumping straight into Hedge Funds?

So I am hoping to double major in Finance and MIS, but am wondering if that's a good idea. I am really striving to jump right into hedge funds and think that MIS ( Management Information Systems) would help with possibly researching and analyzing/organizing important data for ideas while also helping me understand the tech industry in general.

Do you guys think Accounting or Economics would be a better major to go with finance than MIS? Especially if I choose the HF route? I can't do Finance with math or CS, so I'd like to add something useful. Also want to minor in History, but feel like that would take away from employment opportunities in the Buyside.

Please let me know what you think is the best for HF... or even PE and AM.

Thanks guys

MIS is not a substitute for CS.

I'd just add a CS minor or even a math minor instead of a MIS double major to be honest.

MIS is a good major for jumping straight into middle office trade support. If you want a technical second major or minor to make you more attractive to hedge funds do math or CS. Most places, especially pe firms and hfs aren't going to think highly of you for knowing excel and sql, everyone in business school learns this stuff and can easily be taught to a new hire.

Would a good understanding of financial modeling still be useful? I signed up for BIWS financial modeling courses which include Financial modeling, Oil n Gas modeling, REIT modeling, and Bank modeling. Also includes an advanced excel course. You said that knowing excel will mean little, so just want to know if taking the courses is even worth it, especially for getting internships. It's 1k for the whole package and is refundable for 10 more months. Thanks
