Out of HF, how to move on (burner account - help)

Hi - made this burner account to ask this one question.

I’m recently laid off of a HF and I don’t want to stay in the industry.

I have a longer term plan that has nothing to do with finance but it will take me 1,2,3 years to get that rolling.

In the mean time I want a stable job that pays benefits. Should I go for corp finance? How does one even get started there - are there HHs? Do you apply online? Or should I just take a low skill job for a while? Or is there another option?

thanks

Depends on your financial condition. If you got $$$ saved up, build what you want to build. If not, network for a stable job - you are likely too smart for that job but cash cow is good. You have best chances networking your way in because you are probably missing skills here and there for a corporate job.

100k + benefits would be ideal

but if it’s 80 or 90 that’s not the end of the world

You should be able to find corp fin or financial reporting jobs, at f500 or startups, that clear that threshold easy. The startups may not be stable so you just gotta be prepared to hop to another if they go down. But at the price range you're looking for, I'd say quite doable. Just shotgun a bunch of apps and pick whoever you dislike least out of the ones that respond to you. Good luck!
