Rokos Capital - Thoughts on the culture?
Have been reading about Rokos Capital Management fund for a while and keen to know more about it, but don't know anyone there. However, recently have seen some reviews on Glassdoor which don't speak too favorably about the culture (poor leadership, 'yes' men culture, public berating, etc.). Of course these bad reviews exist for all companies/HFs by disgruntled employees, but given that the fund is small it is hard to simply say these are outliers.
From a Linkedin search, lots of their employees have quite impressive backgrounds, so seems like a good place to work - on paper. Also have poached some top people from sell-side, so am frankly surprised if work culture is that poor.
Can anyone here provide any thoughts/insights on the firm and its culture? Do people tend to enjoy their jobs there (if anyone has first hand knowledge or knows anyone there)? If we have to be specific, then this would be for the trading roles there.

Hope that helps.
Their CTO was my former manager. Had a chat with him recently. He said the tech there is pretty solid. They're solving interesting problems and the pay is decent.

Have heard the culture sucks
.
Toxic, no learning, PM always right, analyst always wrong, bashing
bump
One of our analysts used to work there. He was let go earlier this year for many reasons. He always used to talk about how toxic his analyst was and constantly bashed him. This was a major red-flag for us. Had we known he would've been like this, we wouldn't have even interviewed him. In the beginning we found it quite funny, but 1.5 yrs later, you're still talking about your previous firm?
To add insult to injury, he wasn't the best analyst. He made countless mistakes in drafting tear-sheets, models and presentations. Other analysts complained about him frequently and during the last 2 mos of his work, he always came to work late. It was quite confusing now thinking about it. I think he now works at Wolfe Research (ironically, they love toxicity).
We let him go and never looked back.
This probably doesn't answer your question, but this was my experience working with somebody who previously worked there.

They have verticals along every asset class. I think they focus on equities largely thematically. Could be wrong though.
What does your team do? Curious bc I thought Rokos was rigorous since they seem to be really into the academia vibe…
Bump
My PM used to work there… heard they’re big on hiring Econ PhDs (it’s a macro fund after all) and they often suck all the air out of a room… not much room for diversity of thought when someone just stonewalls you with esoteric theory.
Anyone have any idea on comp for juniors there? They seem to be really interested in math guys too
Heard its incredibly toxic/horrible work culture (coupled with long hours).
They tend to hire a bunch of juniors from sell side only to have them quit within a few years (if that). Just look at the amount of ex-Rokos juniors around on linkedin, there have been through a good number of them now (very few seem to last long).
bump on views? hows comps? any updates on culture
Bump - anyone do their maths and aptitude tests and have recommendation on how to best prepare or what to expect?
I know one of the Partners there - one of the nicest people I've ever met. So am very skeptical about any of these blanket claims about Rokos having a bad culture.
