The Job Better Than PE/IB/HF

In the past decade, most people would agree that influencers have the best life. You wake up, post a picture of yourself, make 10k, and go back to bed. The problem with the influencer model is that it's boring and vapid. Lacking any thought, the influencer lifestyle is the plain potato chip of jobs that pay immensely well. Sure it pays well, but there's a million others I'd rather have.

Enter the real diamond: Big Tobacco lobbyist. Last night, I saw the film "Thank You for Smoking" staring the same guy who plays Harvey Dent in the Dark Knight. It is now in my top 10 greatest films of all time. Simple, great character build, and its subtle but deep. Which got me thinking, was being a big tobacco lobbyist (pre vaping crisis) the best job in the world? It would certainly seem that way. Imagine being paid top dollar to convince people that you really can't say with exact certainty the sky is blue. That is a job that is difficult. You need to speak immaculately, articulate thoughts in ways that can't be discredited nor proven, and be able to sleep at night knowing you represent the company murdering people every day.

I wouldn't say the same for vaping lobbyists (although technical still tobacco since big tobacco bought most of these companies including VC funding for Juul TBA). That's a hard pill to swallow. In fact, there's such a smoking crisis that even the lobbyists have said yeah we know it's bad but don't kill our entire business just take the flavors. In other words, losing territory now to potentially gain it back later. It would seem that being a tobacco lobbyist today is not the job you would want, but 30 years ago I could only imagine what that would be like. Anyone here have family that was involved with this? I'm sure there would be great stories.

The board room scene when he breaks down the Bogart romance is one of the best written scenes. Truly a great film

First of all no, since you'd have to lead a team of 100-1000+ people

Second, if i had a billion dollars you think id give a shit lmao... being that rich is a completely different lifestyle.

If you're a billionaire you probably have connections with other rich people, celebrities, etc. You are able to exert influence on stuff, can buy sports teams, buy yachts, private jets, hotels, real estate, literally anything.

I think you’re wrong about the influencer thing. Take a guy like Mr.Beast. Even though the video lasts only 10 minutes, it takes way more time for the contests to run and all the planning involved.

I mean sure it definitely varies. I also wouldn't say he's a typical influencer that holds a weightloss protein shake or a moisturizer. He's #1 in the league table by far. Yes, influencers have more planning than we see, but I'd sign up to plan how to take a selfie/do a tiktok any day of the week than do an operating model from scratch.
