Best groups are LevFin, Project Finance, and Financial Sponsors at the moment. Some coverage groups are also solid in terms of deal flow like their automotive group, but you will be doing mostly debt refinancing transactions not any M&A. In terms of exits, in this market, you aren’t look at any BBs unless you have an exceptionally grounded network in the specific groups you want to lateral to. Most laterals are to solid MMs (Not so much top MMs). Heard the culture is pretty good and pay is alright with respect to hours (still below street in terms of full comp).

Don’t know much about SMBC but I don’t believe they do tons of M&A. They post jobs that say “corporate & investment banking analyst/intern” but they are primarily just a big international corporate bank
