2016 League Tables for BBs by Industry. Guess who is #1?
Saw this online (FT). Ranked in terms of fees earned in 2016. Thoughts? Anything surprising? For me, JPM seems to have a top presence in many different industries. Didn't know that they were a top energy bank.
Category - Bank Financials = Morgan Stanley High Technology = JP Morgan Energy and Power = JP Morgan Healthcare = JP Morgan Industrials = JP Morgan Materials = Goldman Sachs & Co Consumer Products and Services = Bank of America Merrill Lynch Consumer Staples= Bank of America Merrill Lynch Real Estate = Bank of America Merrill Lynch Telecommunications = JP Morgan Media and Entertainment = Goldman Sachs & Co Retail = JP Morgan Government and Agencies = JP Morgan

Assuming by "fees" this includes financing fees, which will favor the banks with larger balance sheets. If you cut this to just m&a fees you would likely see a different picture here. But like the wallet share metric more than the standard deal size league tables.
Agreed. I work in credit. I've personally never seen Goldman on a loan, but I see JPM, BAML, and MS all the time. CS would be a distant third in terms of how much I've interacted with them. That being said, I don't think that makes this a biased metric. The banks with larger balance sheets can do more financing, making them more of a "complete package" for their clients. It's a competitive advantage for them, though it comes with risks.
Not sure what the methodology was but definitely something to note.
Doesnt equal to exit opps and stuff like that though
Ya man, you left out the word preftige
Where are all the European banks?
Oh wait, I think I know the answer to that question...
Dimon and Pinto run a good ship at JPM
