GS doing an accelerated and regular app timeline. Accelerated will open from March 15-April 15, and those who apply then cannot apply during regular applications if they don't get an early offer, so it's a way for candidates to hedge if they're ready or not yet. I've heard they're trying to take the majority of their class in the early pool
I believe they said it was for anyone, open on the GS website

I already went through the app process for sophomore year, so I'll apply early.
Here is what my recruiter said: Apply Early IF: you feel ready to interview; you already have an internship for 2018; you are a diversity candidate -- it's kind of like the Early App for colleges
She said that they will not fill in all of their spots during the earlier process, and spots will be available for the regular process -- but just the fact that she had to say this means that they will be filling in a significant portion
Disclaimer: You cannot apply and will not be considered for the regular process, if you are rejected in the early process. However, you may be "deferred" for later consideration from the early to the regular process, but that's the exception rather than the norm. (As I said, very similar to college app process.)
