3.47 GPA from semi-target... Am I cooked?

I recently received my final grades from my sophomore fall... and obviously not what I wanted/hoped for. Right now, my GPA is at a depressing 3.47 and I'm not sure if I should even continue the recruiting process, seeing as the threshold for most banks that I'm looking at is a 3.5 at least. Is there any hope for me or should I just drop everything this winter and wait for off-cycle recruiting next year?

Had similar gpa from mid-target. Not diversity straight guy not nepo. Got into top bank (GS/EVR/MS level) at top group and got into megafunds then HSW. Didn't network much. You'll be ok.

Helps if you have a high SAT or ACT (close to perfect), I was told by HH back in the day that helped. Then a high GMAT.

Large cap PE fund brought up my GPA for a first round for a VP role not that long ago but brought up my SAT and GMAT as well. Wound up getting offer. I would have a good reason as to why it's low though.

Major survivorship bias. Objectively you have an uphill battle. Not impossible but won’t be easy as a lot of people have significantly stronger credentials. If you got nothing else to show (scores, strong networking skills, outstanding internships) it’s pretty cooked.

I'm not blind to what you're saying but this whole industry is survivorship bias. Most ppl who leave PE say it's brutal and most ppl who make it to principal say it's ok. Also survivorship bias.

The guy's just looking for some positive data points. Idk what you earn by telling him he's cooked when clearly he's not.

In this industry you have to be lucky and good and hard working. I'm assuming for the sake of argument he's good or has the potential to be, and prob was just a little lazy in undergrad. Whatever. He probably just needs to be a little lucky as to who's screening his resume. If he's stupid (Vs lazy, or in a hard major) it's all moot anyways.

And yes, 10/10 times I prefer hiring a 4.0 with a 2400 from an ivy and prep school who's cracked in terms of sports, but you can't fill your class with those ppl. I'm always happy to take a flyer on a high test score kid with mediocre GPA who seems like he has super high horsepower.
