About to start FT but no longer looking forward to it

I used to be very enthusiastic about IB and PE. But after a while, the enthusiasm waned, and I have come to realize that this is not the lifestyle I want for myself. I don’t want to spend my life slaving away for someone else. I don’t want to give up my freedom. Anyone else feel the same?

Don't know if this is correct way o look at it -- you're not about to "spend your life" working for somebody else. You're about to spend a year or two gaining experience that other employers value, meeting people to expand your network and making good money. This isn't the rest of your life. It's your first job that you can choose to leave in a year or two. What else do you want to do for your first year out of school?

2 cents.  Unless you truly going to live off the grid and hunt and gather all your food and live in a 100% self sustaining home that you have to not pay a cent to maintain and somehow managed to get for free.  You will be "slaving" away for someone for a salary or money to pay for a lifestyle. Sure you might not consider working only your hobby "slaving", but let me tell you life only get more expensive as it goes on (yes even from a minimalist perspective).  I would recommend changing how you look at the world and enjoying your time in banking.  I get it enthusiasm decreases as you realize your graduating and the next stage of life is unstructured, but that is the beauty of it.  You truly get to what ever you want.
