Few basic suggestions:

  • Slow down. Think about what you're trying to communicate before you try to do so.
  • As they used to say at my old bank, just kill a tree and print out your work. Order of operations: do your work, check it on screen for mistakes, print it, go through the entire doc with a red pen and hand write proofreading marks (look them up to use the proper ones so others can interpret your markup), go through your markup (entire doc) and fix changes on your computer, then do a print and flip comparing your markup page by page to the final you just printed.
    • And recycle all that paper when you're done.
  • When writing an email, always stop before you hit send and reread it slowly. If it's a long email, step away for a minute before reviewing.
  • F7, my dude.
Maximum effort.
