Advice on getting M&A-related jobs in California as a foreigner?

Hi all

to keep things short:

- I am currently a 2nd year analyst in a Big4 firm in Europe and working in the M&A department

- I will start my Master's in Finance degree this year at an American Business School (no Ivy League, but a solid adress)

- After that I still can work in the US with my Visa (OPT) and I want to get a job in a M&A-related field (maybe in an IB/Boutique/PE/Corp. M&A/etc.) in California

Do you have any advice for me how I should proceed when I apply? Which jobs have the best chance of getting me an interview?

Is my overall plan possible or very difficult as a foreigner with 2 years of M&A experience?

I would be very happy if you can give me some advice, because I am not familiar with the US M&A job culture so far. If you have other ideas for what type of jobs I could apply I would be also very grateful.

Best
