Advice on Housing in Bay Area?

I have an upcoming summer internship which requires me to be at the office in Menlo Park. I don't think living in SF is going to be feasible because for one I don't have a car and public transportation will take more than an hour each way. I'm looking for places some what near my office but they're all still fairly far. Public transportation is at least 40 minutes, and idk if I can bike for a considerable amount without getting to the office all sweaty and smelly.

If anyone is in a similar situation or has gone through something similar, would really appreciate any advice or resources to look for housing. Been looking at airbnb and craigslist but nothing doable showing. Thank you.

e: Just thinking of getting an airbnb that will run me 3k a month that is within manageable walking distance from the office. My thinking is that I'm willing to be a little isolated over the summer, and shell out on rent if that means not stressing about transportation. My goal is to secure the return offer and this is only a temporary thing. Willing to save money on other stuff for housing too. Is my thinking reasonable?

Why don't you just live in Mid Peninsula (Palo Alto / Redwood City)? Much better quality of life and weather than SF. Stanford is right next door, maybe you can snag a sublet there for a few months. If headed to the city for networking events/dinners/bars I'd just take Caltrain or Uber, Zipcar if headed out of town. If you're really set on SF live near a Caltrain station like South Beach or Dogpatch.

Check Facebook Marketplace, much easier to screen for legit opportunities than others you mentioned. University student housing Facebook groups could work well too on an off chance someone has a sublet available.
