Alternatives to IB?

I’m about two months into recruiting and have hit a wall of realization. I do not want to continue. I’ve started to dread calls with analysts and associates - hearing about how miserable their WLB is, how the work is mundane & repetitive has been the opposite of motivating. Even at the firms that promote great WLB and “protected Saturdays” I’m receiving email responses at 1am on the weekend.

I’ve come to the realization that I’m willing to sacrifice $$$ in order to have some fulfillment and personal life. I do not want to be a slide monkey and be a slave to my associate, then VP, then client.

What’re my options straight out of undergrad if I want to avoid doing banking for 2 years? Am I completely shut out of high finance if I don’t make the impossible decision to join IB now?

Do I have to lateral my interest & focus onto management consulting? Is it possible to land interesting corp dev roles out of undergrad? I’m just curious to hear the options as I feel extremely tunnel-visioned into IB.
