Am I backup?
Had a second round at a healthcare IB team for an associate role. Was told they are looking to hire asap as they just lost 3 associates to MBA and another is lateraling internally to another team. I interviewed last Thursday and have not heard back yet. I asked HR for an update (saying I was in the process at another IB and wanted to make sure to not miss out on the team) and was told they are pausing for now interviews and not moving me to final round yet. They said some other candidates are already at the final round.
Does this mean I am a backup in the event those don’t pan out? Anything I can do or just wait?
