American Express ??
I know this is going to be laughed at.. But, does American Express have a IB department?
I ask because I have a pretty good contact with AE.. Related to a HR guy.. SO, before I start kissing his ass, do they have a IB dept.??
Thanks!
Not a silly question. AE did investment banking got into investment banking in the 80s. It merged its IBD business with Lehman Brothers in the early 90s.

Instantly reminded me of Barbarians @ the Gate
Thank you brandon. That cleared a lot of things up for me!
The do have a Strategic Planning Group which is supposedly somewhat selective and a good non-banking alternative for an entry level job (like GE FMP).

What are some good jobs at American Express? I have an interest in the company, but I am not sure what positions you would hold at the same esteem as say IBD Analyst, ER Associate, or first year consultant.
I've heard that the best group to be in is the strategy group - the vast majority of American Express's CEOs come from that division.
I have heard that too, but I was also looking for some groups that may be more accessible from undergraduate.
Amex is very much like banks in the sense that they have "target schools". Best way to get in FT is to get an internship.
They have the same groups as all large companies, so not really sure what your questions is exactly. They are pretty innovative in digital marketing and do some cool stuff on the risk part of the business. Their internal strategy group, which operates like a consulting firm, is supposed to be cool as well.
