Analyst at Three Banks?

I was a capital markets analyst at a bank that was/is falling apart (think RBS, UBS). It was a miserable experience and most of my group was getting laid off, so after close to a year, decided to lateral to a Capital Markets Group at a bank of a similar caliber but is much more stable. Now, having been there almost a year and half, want to move to a coverage group to learn more and have more exit ops. Got okay from manager/team to move to a coverage group within the bank next summer, but have to wait for a spot to open up. Was thinking about looking at other banks in the meantime so I could a) start in coverage now, instead of waiting 9 months (already been an analyst for 2+ years) b) have more say over what group I end up in (there is one industry group I would really like to be in) c) potentially move to a better bank to be more attractive in recruiting

For obvious reasons, I thought moving to a third bank as an analyst would not be viewed favorably, but I talked to a headhunter and she advised lateraling to a better firm/group because working on better deals would obviously make me more attractive during recruiting. She said I had valid reasons to make every move so people wouldn't really care.

What are people's thoughts? Wait it out or look around? Appreciate all the help, thanks all.
