Analyst FT Transition

Hey guys,

I just graduated from undergrad and have been working as an analyst at an elite boutique for two months now. I focus on energy, specifically private energy companies, and I did not have significant energy exposure prior to getting the job. I was wondering how long it usually takes for an analyst out of undergrad to become acquainted with all of the nomenclature specific to an industry and when said analyst is finally able to draw conclusions from the work that he does? I find myself doing a lot of work where I am editing/entering in data but am not analyzing what I am doing, and I believe a lot of that is due to my unfamiliarity with the technical stuff associated with the energy space.
