Analyst/Associate Job Title at boutiques?
Has anyone heard of boutiques labeling first year analysts as "associates"? And if so is that common?
I guess boutiques can do whatever the fuck they want but I was just curious because I think I will be an associate at the entry level. And in terms of lateraling in a year or so does it look weird to be called an associate as opposed to an analyst if it's obvious that your are straight out of undergrad?
Maybe this is common and I just haven't seen it.
Thanks for anyone who can shed some light on this.
This is also like a 10-15 man boutique so a very small shop
If the company is that small they can do whatever the fuck they want. Really nothing to worry about. There's not going to be an issue when/if you try to lateral.
Makes sense, wanted to see if the title would be confusing in terms of lateraling. Thanks.
Coming from experience though, you will have to explain that when trying to make a move.
Out of undergrad, I started at a boutique that labeled me "associate". When I went through the lateraling process, I just listed "analyst" on my resume as my position. No one cared or asked.
