Applicants with HF sophomore internships now autodinged by BBs?

Hey guys,

I go to a target school and this year, we were hit pretty unaware by accelerated recruiting and less people got placed as result. Everyone who placed with a BB this year, however, all have a boutique banking internship lined up for this summer, and when I spoke with a friend at a HYW it seems that is also the case there (99% of BB offers went to people with sell-side experience on their resumes). I am going into my sophomore year and am currently talking to some HFs for next summer, but a lot of people are now saying that this may get me autodinged from BBs and I might wanna play it safe and go with boutique IB instead. Any thoughts on this matter?

It's just that every single kid that was taken from my school had an IB internship lined up, same thing with my friend at the HYW; he didn't even get first round at some BBs despite working at one of the most prestigious HFs this summer.
