Are SAs expected to go clubbing with analysts/associates?

Do SAs often go out on thursday/friday nights with other bankers? I'm really not a big fan of clubbing and I have a girlfriend, but at the same time I don't want to seem like some antisocial nerd who doesn't know how to have fun (and not get a FT offer because of it).

And how do people deal the fact that most summer analysts are under 21?

hahah i think no one will force you to go. but I will say from my experience last summer at HK BB that bonding with people over drinks made reviews + working with them a lot more chilled out and relaxed. one of the associates i worked extensively for actually forwarded me a copy of the review he was writing to HR before sending it to them. probably not typical, but seriously, never hurts to bond. Do however, be careful not to get completely s****faced

Be social. Its not like you wouldn't go out with ur guy buddies to watch a game over beer or sumthing because u have a gf. Don't have to go everytime either. Healthy mix.

...in NYC (being underage) and never had an ID problem when going for after work drinks. Granted, I am a girl, but if you are still in your business clothes and are going out with other co-workers you should be fine. Most places that turn into a club/lounge after 10pm start to get strict then. So if you get in before 10 then you will be fine.

There will always be the waiter/bartender who is an ass and has to card. Just go someplace else.
