Are these hours normal?

I am currently at a highly acquisitive publicly traded company in their M&A division. I’ve been at the company ~6 months now and I literally don’t do anything. Maybe send out a few emails a day, complete a deliverable that takes me 1-2 hours to do, and a meeting sprinkled in here and there throughout the week. I would say I work 2-3 hours per day (<15 hours per week). Has anyone else had a similar experience? I thought it might’ve ramped up by now but considering it’s been 6 months I’m wondering what the deal is. Whenever I’ve asked for feedback it’s been positive, so I don’t think my lack of work flow is performance related. Any thoughts?

No that's not normal. Corporate jobs are chiller and it's ok to work a 40hr week (with less than 40hrs of actual work) but if you're not doing anything you're putting yourself in the crosshairs of a layoff. I would actively try to do more - ask if you can sit in on deals or get involved in new projects. My guess is whoever was supposed to train you / ramp you up dropped the ball and now people are just accustomed to you not doing much. Do you ask for work?
