Associate and VP hours

We all know analysts work crazy hours but I’m interested in hearing what hours other Associates and VPs are working. Can you answer the following:

coverage/product:

bank type:

position:

hours pre-covid:

hours now:

Depends on bank and team. At our bank VPs often work longer hours than associates. And associates do work very long hours too.  But VPs that have lateraled do point out that VPs at our EB work an abnormal amount of hours (you can guess where..), so maybe there are banks out there where VPs don't grind as hard.

But generally it just doesn't get better

Second this, from a BB. VPs are newly trying to generate revenue, juggle a ton of deals, have to drive a lot of junior teams, and have no protected weekend or protected vacation policies like juniors do. Improves a bit around VP3, where people either leave or have proven they can deal with clients. It's not 100 hour weeks but there's definitely consistent 80 hour weeks.

Other places might have VP better staffed, but at my bank the analysts, associates, and VP are all grinding pretty damn hard.

Moelis?

At mine (EB) it's maybe ~11pm-12am avg on weeknights for analysts, similar but maybe a touch less e.g. 10-11pm for associates and then big step change at VP. Down to 40-60 hour weeks depending on how conveniently your deals are spread out vs. bunched up. Could be even lower if you have a quiet patch, could be 80-100 hrs for a couple of weeks if everything is busy at the same time. But normally ~50

At my BB, we are trying to lateral in Tech coverage VPs, and the only ones who are interested are EB VPs who think this is a cushy gig (they might be right). VPs work 80hrs. A&A work somewhere north of that.
