Audit to IB - How/when to make the move
Have been in audit for ~6 months and already know that this isn't for me. I kind of knew what I was getting into but wanted to give it a shot, however, I'm bored out of my mind. For the past month or so l've been thinking about making the move to a more finance oriented role, preferably IB. I want to start networking/getting the technicals down once busy season is over. Should I even bother getting my CPA? Will it give me any leverage in the interview process? I guess my real question is: would I be better off spending my summer networking & broadening my finance background or grinding out the CPA, then making the move in the fall? Additionally, I live in a decent city for IB (think DC/Boston) but nothing compared to job market in NYC/Chicago/LA. Obviously there would be more competition in these cities, but it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of banks hiring (at least on indeed/linkedin/firm websites). Thanks y'all & obviously answer these questions as if there wasn’t a massive pandemic going on lol.
