Auto Response When Leaving Firm
So I am leaving my job and when I leave I want to put up an auto response for my work email address that has my new contact information and lets people know that I am leaving. What has everyone seen as a pretty standard response?
Thanks.
No Longer With the Company Email Template
While most companies terminate your email as soon as you leave the firm - there might be some cases where you should set up an automatic response in case the firm doesn't get around to shutting your email off for a while.
I was told to set up an auto-response by the small PE fund I was working for. It just included: where I'm at now, what they do, their website, my new e-mail & phone, then said in a separate paragraph, "If you'd like to reach an Old Firm professional, please contact Old Boss Name & Info."
With this in mind, if there is no bad blood between you and your employer you should ask your manager what they would prefer you to include in your auto-response method.

As far as I know, most companies automatically terminate your email once you leave and when someone emails you they will receive an auto response that the email no longer exists.
It's kind of silly to believe that anything else but this would happen. Auto-response enabled? Right . . .
Your email will be disabled the second you walk outta the door brother
Dude, you will cease to exist as far as your company is concerned.
Email blast your contact info before leaving? Does that fly?
I did get an auto-response once from someone I emailed, which said they had left the firm (and it offered their personal email address too). This was from a Chinese company, however, and I don't think it's standard practice for most firms to do that.
The guy works in PE. Depending on the size of the shop, they might not get around to terminating the e-mail for a while. That was the case for me. In fact, I was told to set up an auto-response.
