Background check -- could not verify employers

Going FT in 1.5 months. my firm (BB) reached out to me saying that they could not verify a few unpaid internships + paid internships. I provided w2 for the paid ones and email correspondance for the unpaid ones. Is this enough? They said I need to provide such proof, but I am feeling anxious. It is extra stupid because I went thru the same process last year and there was no issue with my background check.

FYI: the emails show that I joined the team, was working on some projects etc. Everything is accurate but dont want to lose my job cause they could not verify (arguably) pointless unpaid roles... how common is this? how worried shld I be? Thanks in advance.

Funniest

Last time I switched jobs, I was notified that my upcoming (current employer) couldn’t verify my then employer. I just laughed because I was literally still there, serving out my two weeks notice.

You’d be surprised how incompetent HR people are. Wouldn’t be shocked if the average IQ is somewhere around room temperature, +/- 10-20.

Just provide proof and email your old (non-HR) contacts and you should be fine.

Im fucking dead

Usually, emails should be enough. Joined a multi trillion IB that was getting investigated by the SEC then and even though "compliance was heightened" for my unpaid internships I just showed them emails showing I joined the team and they were okay with it. Don't worry about it, you'll be fine

Did you work there? If push comes to shove, you can just call your old employer and get a verification letter, or arrange a phone call or whatever it takes. The problem would occur if your status there is questionable. On rare occasions, a firm may be out of business, or there may be no one remaining who remembers your involved, and for some reason there is no record(some places keep HR records for a limited time). Usually this is when the experience is very old. HR is not trying to screen you out, nobody wants the background check to fail, and they'll give you ample opportunity to substantiate your work experience.
