Bad habits or health?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working 80-90 hours a week for the past two years without a real vacation, and lately I’ve found myself literally dozing off at work.

I’m wondering if it’s just massive sleep debt or if there are other things I can tweak. Should I be using eye drops, avoiding screens before bed, or maybe investing in a better chair or mattress? Sports, diet, drink a lot of water, open windows when at work?

Any practical tips on how to not feel so exhausted all the time would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Jesus dude are we all literally brainwashed?

Let's take a step back and really look at the bigger picture of what this guy is posting. Hi guys I have not taken a real vacation in 2 years working 90 hour weeks, have not seen my friends, or family, anyone have tips on how to seem and look less dead inside and zombielike for the office? I need to be a good corporate drone!

I don't intend to solely call you out and honestly give credit to always trying to improve yourself, but Jesus.

The post is 100% serious, I just feel bad. Planning to take a vacation shortly as I need to unwind. But it's still my job and if my health remains in a bad shape, I may lose a source of income

The human nervous system works in 2 ways: the SNS and PNS. SNS is your fight or flight. It's responsible for adrenaline and pushing you in stressful situations. The PNS, on the other hand, is more like "charging" mode, in that it's in charge when you're not under stress, and calm and relaxed. Many of the most important functions of the body happen during PNS that cannot happen during SNS, namely repairing of damaged cells and aiding in the processing of nutrients(food and liquids). The problem is that if you're overworking the SNS and not getting any PNS, your body literally doesn't have the ability to physically recover because of the amount of time you're spending in SNS. You're literally racking up a massive debt on your own physical health.

Short term things to do are change up the diet, exercise more, and GET A GOOD MATTRESS. Better sleep helps a lot here. Long term, you have to take on less hours. You're literally killing yourself over a job. Your body is actively telling you that it's hitting its limit. FUCKING LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Don't die over a job.
