a close family friend has been there for 5-10 yrs.
Culture is good and no asshole policy is taken seriously(Midwestern banks are generally like this)
Deal flow is really good(one of the best industrial shops in the Midwest).
Long hours and grind but the pay and experience is worth it from what I've heard.

How is pay there? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Totally agree with everything else - not many assholes, good deal slow, somewhat sweaty
I've heard it was ''above street''/good almost every year from the people I know(3 people; 1 an, 1 vp and 1 smd)
Highest praise on comp from the smd, he's in MKE office but doubt that changes much if anything.

This is just a complete lie other than the deal flow / deal experience. Everyone knows this place is a complete hellhole
If you have taken the job already you now know that the culture is horrible, pay is below average, and the hours are 100+. I do not know you, but as someone who used to work there, I pray you did not take the job
Can you shed some light on the deal flow and all-in comp for senior associates? Thanks
Small chance you would be able to lateral as a senior associate. Comp is fine for the A to A Baird for life guys. If you have associate experience from another bank you would 99% come over as a first year associate which would be $175K base with maybe $30K bonus. You will be worked to the bone and then either get a trash bonus or fired before bonus gets paid. Like clockwork the firm hires 3-5 lateral analyst and 2-3 later associates per year and like clock work they all quit or get fired within 12 months.
How easy is it to take the experience at Baird and move to BBs like citi, JPM in Chicago? Are there in any other alternatives if you want to do industrials banking/PE?
