Who knows what will happen in the coming months. My two cents is that banks will layoff at some point, but considering how they received massive bailouts not too long ago, this is their way of saving face in the midst of another bailout.
If you truly have no plans of laying off people, then what's the point of releasing a statement? Makes no sense to me. I expect banks to welcome 2021 with a plethora of layoffs.
Exactly. when I first read this on linkedin I immediately thought “coz the government gonna bail you out anyway?”
Laying people off in the midst of a national public health crisis is a terrible look. Layoffs that can be publicized as due to poor economic conditions is a different story.
