Bank restructured between SA -> FT

Hi everyone! I recently started as an analyst after converting an SA position from last year. During that time period the bank restructured such that I am no longer on the sub-team I mostly interned with. The new position is solely fixated on one of the areas that my broader team covers but I won’t be able to work on what I mostly worked on last year (which I have had an interest in even before my SA).

I was only informed of the change on the first day I joined so I’m looking for any and all advice I can get on if / what I could do.

To be frank both sub-teams are great and my bank is looking to expand the business in both lines, but my passion lies within the other Industry I can now no longer directly work on.

I’m planning to discuss this with my line manager and others to see if there is a long-term path I could take to get back onto the sub-team I prefer. Is this a reasonable thing to do ? Or am I just shooting myself in the foot right as I start my career in banning.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :) sorry for keeping it vague.
