Bankers - how many computer screens

How many computer screens do you use and what do you use them for? I know it's not like trading but I'm wondering if IBD analysts use at least 2.

I'm interning as an engineer in a corporate setting and I use 2 screens. One has Outlook open at all times while the other is used for real work. Two screens are helpful if I'm comparing spreadsheets or something.

3 normally. Two dedicated to Bloomberg screens, the other for email or excel sheets normally. I used to think the more the merrier, but at some point there is just too many things flashing and scrolling to make it worth your while.

Whoops, just realized you were asking bankers. Oh well.

cityknightEveryone on this floor seems to have two.

Though some people go with the vertical flipped screen. I'd do it to seem cool but I obviously can't figure out how.

Try Ctrl + Alt + Right Arrow Key (or Left Arrow Key, depending on which way you want to reposition your monitor)

I think that might be just specific to the computer I'm using but I accidentally stumbled upon it

It's not, works on most computers. One note, if you have two screens the only screen that will rotate is the one where your mouse is currently on. And when it flips, the mouse direction flips also so it takes a little thinking to get it back to normal or also switch the other

Like this? http://maxcdn.liewcf.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/dell-lcd-vertical.jpg

What's the advantage of doing that?

I would think that if you only had one monitor it would be more convent for having two programs up at the same time... cutting the screen in half when you flip it vertically pretty much provides you with 2 smaller monitors. Like the stupid little diagrams I drew below:

4, stacked 2x2.

One for email/word/excel, one for internet/streetevents/wso/y!finance/dealbreaker, one for streaming quotes, and one for whatever randomness may need my attention (though it's playing a movie of some sort 99% of the time)

Oh wow, and here I was thinking there were still people who used only 1 monitor... looks like a minimum of two is the norm nowadays. I have a 2 computer, 4 monitor set-up just for personal use so I guess it makes sense.

I'm not sure about three, but I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for two. At the bank I worked at, we would simply ask IT if we needed an additional piece of hardware / software / whatever. For the small stuff, they'd just take care of it on the spot. For the more expensive stuff, you'd need to get approval from a senior guy.

As a note, everyone had laptops and one desktop monitor. Some people chose to work on just the single monitor while others did a dual laptop / monitor setup.

2 Monitors or laptop screen and a monitor is what I have seen at all the places where I've worked.

Traders get more screens than bankers, also Capital Markets tend to have extra monitors.
