Bankers with Type One Diabetes?

Hello WSO,

Several years ago, WSO had a thread on Type One Diabetes and its possible impacts on performing the job functions of investment banking. With recent technological developments since then, like the continuous glucose monitor reducing the need for finger pricks, the insulin pump now increasing or decreasing insulin to keep the levels within the target range, etc., I was wondering if it is now much more feasible to efficiently manage Type One Diabetes and be in finance. Thank you WSO.

Non issue. I know multiple people with IB/PE who have T1D and you really wouldn't know. People in corporate jobs are generally way chiller about these things than your college peers. The reaction will basically be "oh, okay, let me know if you ever need anything for it"

You may need to plan your life a bit more than the average first year analyst (re: takeout dinners, doctors appointments, etc) and will likely need to work with your medical team on managing through stress but I would not let this stop you whatsoever.
