Barclays IB SA 25 NYC Group Placement

Can someone provide some additional color on how the process is forming? We had the kickoff today but not sure if there is anything else we should be doing. Is it all just a numbers game of networking / are spots already accounted for target stdents?

Based on previous WSO threads, Barclays typically communicates group placements for summer analysts closer to the start of the internship. For example, in one thread, it was mentioned that group placements were shared about a week before the internship began. Networking and staying in touch with analysts and associates in your preferred groups can be helpful, as it allows you to express your interest and potentially stand out. However, keep in mind that HR and internal processes play a significant role, and some spots may already be allocated to returning interns or target school candidates.

If you’re looking for more specific advice, it’s worth reaching out to current analysts or alumni from your school who have gone through the process. They can provide insights into how to best position yourself for your desired group.

Yes it is a numbers game. Hopefully you have already been calling people prior to the "official HR kickoff" as many of the top coverage groups (PU&I, Tech, Industrials, Sponsors, HC, Energy) will be close to done by now.

Try and talk to as many people as possible, but now that HR has given the official "go" you are at a massive disadvantage. Analysts' inboxes will be flooded.

My group mentioned above has given out 50% of spots already with the other half talking to staffer within the next week

Has your group unofficially told incoming interns that they would love to have them in the group? One of the above mentioned groups you said is my top group and have been involved in the process a good amount but have not had anything scheduled with the staffer yet

Anyone have honest insight into consumer and retail group? How are deal flow, hours, and exit opps? Also how is the group compared to comms and media?
